The Trip to Russel and Back
We left the batch at Balys Beach and made our way to the Trounson Forest, which is a Kauri sanctuary. We then drove through Waitangi, which is where the peace treaty between the Maori tribes and the British was signed. We then drove to Opau and caught the ferry over to Russel. On our return trip, we stopped at the Waitomo Glow Worm Caves. We then drove the rest of the way back to Balys Beach for another supper with John and his family.
